Celebrando el verano 2018
Una tarde maravillosa pintando y conversando en español
Una Aventura en los Adirondacks,
September 30-October 2, 2016
¡Qué fin de semana tan fenomenal!
Thank you to all the participating attendees of the teacher immersion weekend in Lake George for the 2016 year! Each and every one of you brought something unique and exciting to our weekend.
There was a lot of eating, dancing, hiking, relaxing and of course a lot of Spanish spoken. The attendees this year were: Cynthia Flax, Myriam Santos, Gary and Merchy Barnard, Cristina Sabia, Jillian Yaeger, Jennifer Yates, Emily Cooper and Jennifer Cornell. Jilllian Yaeger and Jennifer Yates get the award for traveling the furthest -from the Buffalo area. Thank you girls for joining us!
Friday evening began with a scrumptious feast of “Pollo Campesino” provided by Cynthia Flax. Saturday we had a breakfast meeting at the Prospect Mountain Diner and then proceeded to our hike on beautiful
Lake George. After the hike, we headed back to the hotel for a latin inspired lunch, including guacamole prepared in an authentic molcajete, provided by Jen Cornell. Following this, several people spent some time in Lake George village while others began to relax with the massage therapist that made a visit to our condo. Later, several people chose to watch the movie “El Orfanato”. Saturday evening we enjoyed a dinner catered by the Barnsider Restaurant, followed by some latin music and dancing.
Sunday morning we began the day with a relaxing yoga session with Emily Cooper and then we all gathered together for a sharing of ideas session. At around 11:00 AM, everyone checked out and headed home.
Thank you so much to everyone for attending this event. I look forward to another exciting weekend in 2017!
Chicos Charlando, April and May 2016
Our final Chicos Charlando Spanish immersion evening of the school year was a success! On Wednesday, May 18th, several students from Hudson Falls, South Glens Falls and Lake George gathered at Panera in Queensbury to practice their verbal skills. The students spoke the language through casual dialogue and verbal games.
Tertulia, May 2016

NYSAFLT Eastern Regional, March 2016
Representatives from AATSP-UNY attended the NYSAFLT Eastern Regional conference in Lake George on March 19, 2016. Past-president Cynthia Flax, President-elect Jennifer Cornell, and Public Relations Coordinator Myriam Santos hosted a table at the event and met from teachers from several different schools in the Eastern region of New York. They shared flyers on AATSP-UNY membership and our activities, including Chicos Charlando, Tertulia, and the Spring Cultural Outing. They also raffled a wall casita and a ceramic chivita from Colombia, as well as a tortilla cover from Nicaragua. Overall, they did very well in getting the word out about the chapter.
